RE: Tommy's DC-3 Monster Plane
Today I received my DL 55s; the boxes looks so good I don't even want to open them. Ordered the Robart retracts and tailwheel at a whooping $650, 15 freakin' servos: 2 throttle, 2 choke, 2 kill switch, 2 elevator, 2 flaps, 2 ailerons, 1 tailwheel, 1 rudder, 1 retracts. Also ordered 2.4 receiver. I'll post photos of the DLs tomorrow maybe.

DL 55s with a few turbines in the back ground: F-14, F-15, and F-16. DLs are sitting ontop of my F-18, with my F-4 to the left...

Hey Mr DJ,
Those DLE 55's are looking real sweet!!!
I reckon they should give you ample power and you can still run three bladed scale props if you choose to.
Looking forward to watching the build.
Rock On!!

We be rockin' up a storm, Baby
Just got my 14 freakin' servos in along with 7 ch 2.4 Futaba FASST receiver. Expecting the landing gear maybe tomorrow. I decided not to go with Hitec's 7955s but merely their 645s; reason being I used the 645s on my first turbine and it traveled at 150-mph going into loops, turns, etc. It handled that speed, so I know it will handle the much, much slower speeds of my Monster DC 3. I will be using my SmartFly EQ6 that I took out of my Cessna before selling it to my man, Super Mario. Fourteen servos is a hell of a lot of draw on mere 7 channel receiver. With the EQ6, each servo will have all the volts I give it: 6 and the receiver will maintain a mere 5v with no strain. Sure, I don't need the EQ, but will all this freakin' money I'm puttin' into her, I want to at least give it a greater than 50/50 chance of surviving. You know what I'm sayin'?
I'm about to order two 20x10 3-blade Beilaprops from Aircraft International; the same place where obtain the 29x10 for my Cessna and a few others for my 97" Gee Bee Y (DA 85 on that puppy).
You do know that I ordered another Cessnacorrect? That mother will have a turbo prop; I'll be the only mo fo in the USA with a 13' Turbo PropTommy Cessna

Hi Gizmos. how are you.
Tommy should be able to put you in touch with the people who have flown the Dc3 also the correct centre of gravity.
I am putting a Dc3 together and also the Cessna 182. Good luck with your builds.
Regards.
Martin.

RE: Tommy's DC-3 Monster Plane
Here are a few pics of an R4D-6 from the Mid Atlantic Air Museum in Reading Pa. which is 15 minutes from my home. They are restoring a P-61 Black Widow that they say WILL FLY! The plane was on display (under a large tent of course) this year at their WWII Weekend. Still a long way to go but what a sight! Anyway here are the pics...
Here are some pics of the Otis Spunkmeyer DC-3. Nice red and polished aluminum scheme.

I haven't decided on a paint scheme yet; if you find any photos, please post them for me.
Thanks.

Here are some unusual ones. The one in the green/white scheme was used as a crop duster last I knew

RE: Tommy's DC-3 Monster Plane
Well, Gents and Ladies,
It's been awhile, and the end is near. My puppy should be finished by month's end and on it way to me. Photos show the silver paint job; next coating will be the yellow and blue like the last photo. Will post them as well. Also photos of the expensive as hell Robart retracts. I will not be using air; sending them to Down and Locked so they can install a screwjack motor which will give me up and down action every time. I'm doing the same with my turbines and ESM Corsair - no issues of hangin' gear or gear not doing what they're supposed to do.

Hi Mr. DJ,
Is there a manual available for the DC-3? In considering this bird, and I'd like to have a look at the construction manual if it's available!

RE: Tommy's DC-3 Monster Plane
Snobird,
Who's Corsair and size do you have? Mine is ESM and it's the 85 or 89" WS; can't remember. I've a DL 55 goin' in mine. Gonna start building it after my Robin or if my DC-3 comes in, after it, or if my 6th turbine come in (T-33), after it. My T-33 will take precedence over all, then the DC-3.
John,
I"ve requested the manualwill shoot you a copy. I'm sure it's no more than 5 photo pages long; same as it was for my Cessna 182. I was goin' to order another Cessna and place a turbo prop on it, but my money isn't long like most of you

RE: Tommy's DC-3 Monster Plane
DJ, have the Comp ARF 110" folding wing Corsair with a Moki 5 cyl engine, comes in around 50lbs.. Serria gear does not provide a real positive lock down (had one gear fail on a normal landing ..) maybe the down and locked will solve the problem, just sent them a e-mail.. thanks

Snobird,
I started to go that Comp ARF route a long time ago - the folding wings had me sold, but I opted not to... If you have a videos of it posted, give up the link(s).
John,
I have the manual; send me your real email.
