Gents,

I'm about to take the plunge. I already haveTommy's 13' Cessna 182 - love it; I'm sure I'll love the DC-3 as well. I will report back here with real photos, etc. I think I will stick twin DA 85s verses 50s but we'll see; if it fits in the cowl, it's on...

All composite fiberglass parts. A fuselage is 2 part front & rear with joiner preinstalled all frame work,wings,stab finished with silver-colored. The mold is mirrored of panel line. Prefabricated kit are complete accessory package.

Some years back, I made some graphicxs for the actual pilot who flew for TACA Airlines in Mexico. Yes, he flew a DC 3. This had to have been one of the most interesting jobs I've done since I started doing model gtaphicxs many years ago.

This Pilot's model was museum quality to say the least. Interior and all.

I can dig up the art files and make some determination as to the size of the model.

Anyway, this link will give you some information about TACA Airlines.

Thing is, I have all the art for masks or vinyl.

Be nice to see them on another model.

This photo is from my art file and converted to a Photoshop JPEG. Yes, it looks terrible I know, However, if need be, I can print something better.

I was flyin' this puppy lastnight on my Aeroflow Pro. That mother flies very very slowly. To keep it scale at full power, I probably should go with DA 50s or DL 55s; but if I go with the DA 85s, I can always power back the throttle I am an over power kind of guy; it's better to have and don't need than to need and don't have - you know what I'm takin' 'bout...

Mine will be the 2500 170" WB Extended with High Roof 4x4 with a host of options - around $75K. I'll be able to carry 7 Turbines with the wings install: 2 on the rear wall; 2 on the floor; and 3 on the center rack that I will build out of PCV piping. I won't carry no more than 4 at a time but I could carry moreif I wanted to.

I will always carry the Cessna, DC-3, F-14, and Draken unless I'm going to a Jet Only Rally then of course nuttin' but jets.

A good used Lake LA4-200 would be priced in that area.

If I did own one I bet the insurance on that puppy would be crazy, then I'm sure I'd have to pay the airport for housing her, etc. Still, something to think about, but I just gotta have my Sprinter 4x4 - just gotta

If you pay cash for the airplane, like I did, no insurance on the airplane is required. Tie downs, at small airports are inexpensive. Sometimes only 100.00 pr. mo. Even less at grass strips.

Five guys, a little pocket money, say 15K each, and there you have it. Real flying.

I have flown this Tmmy DC-3/C-47 for some years now, as mentioned in earlier threads on RCU. It has the Robart scale retracts, which are excellent. Motorwise mine has more than ample power with Saito 200 inline twins, and there is not much room anyhow for larger props than the 18x6W APC I use. It cruises around at half throttle with this setup and is a very sweet flyer. I think the DA 85's mentioned here are way overkill for this model - unless yo intend to hover it!!

What size are the wheels: 7, 8"? I can't remember what they are on my Tommy Cessna but very large.

I've been flyin' her on my simulatorvery slow flyer.

The color scheme is the final one on the C-47 Dakotas of the Royal Norwegian Air Force. The last aircraft were withdrawn from service in the 80's (!), and mine was used for calibration work and some VIP transport in its final years. It rests in the air force museum here.
The model is locked away inside a trailer in a garage during winter, but the wheels are 6' or 7' Dubro Treaded Lightwheel. If I recall correctly, there are 11 JR servos onboard - 2 elevator, 1 rudder, 1 tailwheel, 2 ailerons, 2 flaps, 2 throttle, 1 retract.

Eleven servos - that's good; a savings in $200 right there.

So you have Satio 200s; man - I bet they suck up some glow. And with the price of glow these days, gas is the only way to go - for me...

I made a huge liar out of myself when I said over a year ago that had given up on props. I sold ALL my new in box prop planes and man,I had some nice birds. As you can see, I'm a turbine man also - they are lots of fun but I still like special prop planes such as this DC-3 and the Cessna Sky Lane. I think I will talk my good friends of Fly Eagle Jet to build 15' wing span C-130 - now that would be the ticket in props. I use to have the C-130 sold by Hobby Somebody. It was a piece of crap - I mean a piece of crap but it looked good in the air.

The Saitos are not that bad on fuel, the sound is quite awesome and after all how often do you fly a big scale model like this? Mainly at events, and certainly not every weekend.
