Engine for Ultra Hots
I've built an Ultra Hots and at first I was going to put a G-38 to go on it. I have 3 other engines sitting on the shelf saying they want to fly it so now I'm asking for your input. Here are the 4 engines I have to choose from:
1. G-38 on magneto
2. Venom 45 on EI
3. ST 4500 on Gas and EI
4. Q-50 on magneto
I know, quite a choice but this is what I have. Let hear what you recommend and why. Thanks in advance!

RE: Engine for Ultra Hots
I have flown the Ultra Hots for many years and it performed quite well with a 40cc First Place Engine. I used a 20x8 prop for good vertical performance. It is almost unlimited. A G38 will fly it OK but, I would suggest the Venom 45 because that will do everything with plenty of power. The Q-50 will be a heavier engine and it is a good idea to keep this plane as light as you can. I believe mine weighs fourteen pounds.

RE: Engine for Ultra Hots
I flew mine with a G-38. It was a good match. Plenty of vertical. Unless yours is different than mine there was no room for EI or another battery up front. It was tight with the g-38 and a tank. The reason I went with the 38. Mine weighed 13.5 lbs.

RE: Engine for Ultra Hots
I've had two ultra hots and flew them with a ST 3000 and they were just fine... wouldn't do unlimited vertical but they were pretty good match...
