Default No want any mishaps in my large scale due to servo faliure

Hello,

A question for experienced scale fliers...I am puzzled, I have asked the same questions to the servo manufactures and other related folks but I get different answers.., now I would like and appreciate your feed back according to your experience in giant scale and 2.4 systems and servos.

If I already asked this, please forgive me.

Brand name digital Servos are rated from 4.8 volts up to 6V, when freshly charging 5 cell, 6V batteries, they peak at 7V. Would this extra volt mess up servos?

Appreciate your advise

No problem with ervo's that spec 6.0V operation. A 5 cell packs peak voltage comes down very quickly. I along with hundreds of thousand's modelers have been doing this for years.
If you wan to be extra safe, go ahead and run a regulater, but that adds complexity to the equation. I myself like "KIS" keep it simple. I have never had an issue with a fried servo. I have damaged them in every way possible, but never by voltage.

Thats a misleading rating.

It should say 4 cell, or 5 cell. 6V rated servos are done so assuming a fully charged 5 cell pack and with the exception of a few special use servos that run at a much higher frame rate, most servos can take 5 cell packs without any problem.

I have been running 5 cell packs, both Nicd and NmHd for over 20 years. The only issue I have ever had was with some early JR digital servos many years ago. But they have been cycled out. You will have no problem.
