Precision Cut Kits
This is my first Giant Scale post. I've always wanted to build a giant Sea Fury. Anyone out there built one i.e. frome precision cut kits? Just wanted to strike up a discussion.
Thanks in advance for the advice,
Brian

RE: Precision Cut Kits
Have you built any of these kits? If so, was it difficult? I just built a Smith Miniplane over this past winter and it was definitely a craftsman's kit.

RE: Precision Cut Kits
I'm building a Hostetler Lancair that precision cut kits cut for me about 15 years or so ago for me.
So far the parts fit is pretty good but I am only on the fuselage. I am just working on it slowly.
It builds straight and the only problems that I have had are do to my not thinking my next step through thoroughly.
Now that I have made a couple of stupid mistakes I have learned to think before I glue.
I like the way it is turning out....
Going to modify it some too.....make the cockpit open and close and put retracts in the wings and nose.....I couldn't find anyone who makes the original type landing gear.
It's a fun build but may take me a couple of years to complete because I am flying a lot and repairing my "not so successfully flown" planes.
I will have them cut another kit for me when I'm ready.
The only other kit cutter that I used was Custom Cutters.......they are now out of business (I think).
Go ahead and have them cut one for you.
I cut my Dave Platt spitfire from his plans and it went together nicely. Drawings were very accurate.
Enjoy yourself,
Ron

Ron,
If you have any pictures of your Lancair fuselage, I'd love to check them out. I work at a general aviation airport and I see a lot of the real ones.

RE: Precision Cut Kits
Sorry to get this into your thread but it is a Precision cut kit and I am happy with it..........
I'll start a build thread on this plane later on so I am requesting that no one ask me more about it until I start that thread......Cordially, Ron
