Sorry. No pics. The flying season is nearly over around here, but if I see the big Champ, I'll get some pics for you.

PS68.
I also just picked up 1/3 scale Champ. Its from RCM plans. The late John Marquette plans. This champ was on RCU. In Peru Indiana. Drove there, rented a U-haul trailer to bring it back to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ever since i bought the plans for the champ, in 1991, i always wanted one. Now i have one. Its about 80% complete. Wings, and stab are all covered. Bottom of the fuse is covered. All Hy-tech servos installed. Pull/Pull cables for all flying surfaces. The engine is a CRRC 55CC twin. The Gentleman that built it Did a master job on it. Over 1400, ooo screws hold the fabric down With all rib stitching complete. Unfortunately, the landing gear broke in transit to NM. Removed it will send it to the Gentleman that built the Gear in CA. Fully function Oleo struts.

Hi
I am finishing one Aeronca Champ (the RCM plans) and I am looking for information about the thrust angles for the engine Zenoah 62.
Anyone have an idea about the recommended right and down thrust angles?
Thanks in advance
Pedro

I have 33% Scale Aeronica Champ kits all laser cut parts, full scale plans, windshield, landing gear,

Tony Hallo 12-17-2017 06:53 AM

FF,
do you have a web site?

frequent flyer 12-17-2017 07:56 AM

Rcaiir.com contact page. Email me at [email protected] and I can send you a list of kits we make. The Champ is $695.00 Plus S&H, the Gear is sold separately. We are building new shops after recently moving to Colorado and Gear are sold out temperately until we finish our construction unfortunately.

I had back surgery last Wednesday and plan to retire early next year. I have the plans and the 1/4 x 1/8 spruce stock in hand, once I feel better I may start knocking out some ribs. Anyone out there have a photo of the jig they used to make the ribs? I have a few ideas but would rather not re-invert the wheel here.

frequent flyer 12-19-2017 06:40 AM

Our kit of this plane has all laser cut parts and an option to have all 1/4" balsa ribs. Saves a lot of time building and you can't tell the difference once you cover the plane.

Tony Hallo 12-20-2017 05:06 AM

Understand but I expect to have more time in the future, just killing time, or is time killing me?

Tony Hallo 01-09-2018 05:40 AM

I'm feeling a little better. The surgery was a success! Photo of the jig I will using to make the ribs. 3/4" plywood base, 1/4" steel pins, 1/16" aluminum angle. After drilling holes for the 1/4" pins, the plan was treated with package tape to prevent sticking. There are a lot of parts to make one rib but what the heck. Place the top and bottom pieces in, then add the verticals, diagonal are added after the verticals dry and I can remove the clamps holding the verticals in place. Then add the plywood reinforcements. I'm using Titebond II glue. One down, 29 to go. Having trouble uploading the photos, will try later.
Still can't upload photos.
