RE: Cunningham's Lazy Ace

Beautiful plane. A friend directed me here. Couple of questions, why no cowl on maiden? And, any chance you could give some details on making the glass one once the plug was finished? Again, congrats and well done!

I scratch built one from plans in the 90's..78 inch ws I think. Covered with worldtex antique fabric. Will build another someday..tried supretigre 90..underpowered..saito 180 would be sweet on it. Building sig 1/4 cub right now...

I am looking for the wing plans for the Lazy Ace , RCM plan# 706 Sheet 2. I have the original sheet 1 from RCM but the second sheet was lost. Any help would be appreciated. These plans show a K&B 61. Looks a little under powered if its 76 "

A little later I will continue to work with the project ... For the season 2015 models will necessarily made.

thebighawg 01-21-2015 12:16 PM

I started flying airplanes back in1988 and about 1992 I think was when I built that plane ..I only have one set of plans and I would have to get that sheet number two copied..not sure how long the fuselage is...that plane would fly really nice with a 120 4 stroke..in my opinion that kind of airplane needs the sound of a 120 4 stroke as opposed to the two cycle engine.at the time I tried to fly mine with a super tiger 90.would have been okay but I never could get the engine to run right.sold it to a friend of mine and I have regretted it ever since.he put a g38 gas engine in it.ruined it as far as I'm concerned but it did fly like a bat out of Hades.not what I had tried to do I was more concerned about an old timer looking biplane.I covered it in world text fabric it was one of the first planes I ever covered with fabric and I really enjoyed it the fabric was made so that you could kind of see the construction underneath

thebighawg 01-21-2015 12:20 PM

anyway I'm not going to part with my plans because I intend to build another one.it included the old school way of making the cabanes which was time consuming and a little tedious because you had to solder the connections with the cabanes installed in the fuselage.all I had were the plans and I think two printed sheets of instructions no pictures.

thebighawg 01-21-2015 12:22 PM

where are you located lazyace? I live near Lexington Kentucky

thebighawg 01-21-2015 12:25 PM
