Cesar and skylarkmk1,
thanks for answer, I know, most difficult will be to make the connection-point with a ball link. I will make a L-form tin, with a hard-solded thread-muff, where the ball-link is screwed in, sorry my bad english Regards Bernie |
RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi All,
Does anyone have any idea of making functional front cockpit door? It seems that I have to cutout the upper left side of the longeron between former 507 and 508 and make another former right after 508. I am worried about if this is going to affect the airframe structure. Your input regarding this issue is appreciated. Thank you all! Wallace |
RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi Wallace,
You are building the 1/4/ scale Waco which is a litle bit different from my Waco. Can you give us some pictures for explain something or other. Cesar |

Hi Cesar,
I attached here with two pictures for your reference, The top view with red line area shows the front cockpit area, it is located on top of both 507 and 508 bulkheads.... The side view with red line area shows the front cockpit door, I may have to cutout the 501 longeron to make functional door... I hope this is clear enough for you to figure out what I am trying to solve :D |

Also the sheeting of the fuse give extra strength. |

Today I placed the tailwheel with the springs on the fuse. It was not so easy to get it worked out. The tension of the springs are importend to get the right action on the tail wheel. so maybe not really scale but functional.

Cesar,
Nicely done, very nice. The "C" channel for the front mount is a great idea. |

Hi Cesar and others,
as you can see on the photos, I was very busy in the last week. Some works in the next week, and the upper-wing will be ready. The ribs in the new kit are very filigrane and you must be very careful to handle with it. All is O.K with the kit, I´m happy, all fit´s together and all is complete!!!!!! The angle from the wings of 2° to upway was exactly, without any corrections. Regards Bernie |

I had a bad accident a couple of weeks ago and could not fly anything till my arm got well. I must say that flying one of these birds is just so much pleasure. You will block out all the problems in life and get lost in the flight when you fly yours. What a great hobby we have don't you think?? Steve |
RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi Steve,
I hope you´re fine now completely after your accident, it´s a bad thing and I hope, never have something. What a great hobby we have .....That´s right, it trains a lot of in our advanced age..ha ha ha! The Rudder and the elevator are to built in same way. But you can now built the stab more scale like, adjustable like the origin, in the plan you can adjust it with a screw, but I want to make it with a DC-gearmotor or by a strong servo. By the servo version you have the advantage, to adjust it during the flight. I wish you best convalescense for your arm Regards from southern germany Bernie |

Anyhow it looks better I think. For Steve; Great to hear that it go better with you Steve and as Bernie say get well soon! Cesar. |
RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi Ruud,
I think, the reason of this cutted ribs is in first line the weight. Second is in my opinion the more professional look, Genesis does it this way since years. Now in this phase the wing seems a little bit fragile, but I think, after planking the nose of the wing, it will be better. Regards Bernie Edit: I forgot to ask you, wich servos do yo use for your ailerons? And do you use 2 or 4 servos. I´m planing the 4 servos version, 4xHS645MG with 11kg torque, and I don´t know, is it enough? |

RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi Bernie,
I have not used the counterweights on the ailerons so I have used on each aileron a servo, Peter Barth adviced me: without the counterweights each aileron a MG 8-10 kg servo. And your choice for the servo's are the same as mine, I have also used the HS645MG for the ailerons. grüßen, Ruud. |

Hi all,
I had a little work past week, now the upper wing is ready, grope sanded and installed the servos with the plugs and wires. After planking the nose of the wing, it´s very stabil now, no more torsion, I´m glad about this :) Cesar, I wish you luck for your maiden, if you are ready [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif] Regards Bernie |

RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi all together,
@Steve I´m so glad, to have a big room to built my waco, no problem to fit the wings and the fuselage together on my building-board. If you built in your garage, isn´t it cold in winter? Edit: oh, sorry, you lucky guy are living in California :) :) :) What about your arm, are you well and healthy? Today I have the problem, from the lower wing the right half is a little bit warped, because I put it from the building-board, to make planking the nose area. After this, I realized, something is wrong, the front wing-end is 1/3 inch higher, than the rear wing-end. I fixed it on the board under tension and sprayed the nose with water, I think, my first prognosis is, it works. I have to wait, until it gets dry. @RCWalker I began with both wings, the upper is nearly ready and the lower is in progress. When I start to built the fuselage, you will see photos above. @ Redcesar What about your maiden, some news? Regards Bernie |

Anyone,
I would like to know what the weight of the completed Peter Barth 33% WACO is. In comparison, what is the weight of the Team Genesis 33%WACO? |
