If you look at how they did the small planes, you can do the same thing on a larger scale. You could also pin the ply mount the fuse with 1/16" dowels and glue.

Does the motor fit the cut out? If so you could cut a piece of ply to fit the s cutout and then use some triangle stock on the back side vertically to add strength.

It might need a millimeter or two shaved out to fit, but I also want the mount to reach around to the engine mounting holes, because fast tight 3D moves stress the mount alot from the gyroscopic resistance from the prop. I think I could just bolt a thick layer of ply in there like you said. I will be using a 4258 500kv motor, a 5000mah 6s lipo, and a 100A HK ESC. (one of the few conversions that costs less than buying an engine).

I finished the conversion and have pictures for anyone else interested in converting their Prox 260. It isn't the nicest looking setup but it should get the job done. I have not flown it yet.

Flew it today, it works. The ESC has less precise throttle in the upper range. It is nose heavy. I don't know how well the motor can handle the gyroscopic forces of 3D flying, the can/bell flexes. The 15x4W prop has just enough thrust to pull it up. It could probably turn a 16-17x4W at under 50 Amps.
