Hi Everyone,
Team Tracon is adding a CMP Cessna 182 to our fleet !!!
Wingspan: 1650mm = 65"
Length: 1250mm = 49"
Weight: 2950 -3100g = 6.5 Lbs - 7 Lbs
Motor: AXI 4130/16
Speed Controller: Jeti 77
Battery: Thunder Power 6s 5000

My Cessna build actually started a few weeks ago, but with work and everything I've been really busy and finding time to update things on this thread has been hard...
I finally found some time today to get caught up on things and kick this thing off with some pictures from the first stage of the build...
After opening the box, I found everything was packed really well, after reading all the instructions through a couple of times I got going on the first steps...
The first part of the build was hinging the flaps and ailerons, in the first picture you can see the detail of the strips on the flaps...
In the second picture you can see the same detail on the ailerons...
There were no surprises using the epoxy to glue the hinges into place for the flaps and ailerons, it all went quite well.
I'm not a big fan of these two piece plastic hinges but this is what came with the kit and the holes were already precut so I used them.
I finally found some time today to get caught up on things and kick this thing off with some pictures from the first stage of the build...

The second part was installing the four servos for the flaps and ailerons...
I used full size Futaba Standard BB S3004's
In the picture below you can see how they'er installed in the wings:
The kit has nice covers over the servos to maintain a nice scale look...
Here's one installed with the push rod cut and ready to be installed:

The next part of construction was putting together the center of the main wing, the kit has made this wing so it can be broken down for transport...
After looking and all the different pieces that holds this thing together I decided that after getting everything together the safe route would be to epoxy the whole wing (All three pieces) after I know everything fits nice and tight...

Hi Tracon,
great photos. i have bought the same plane. unfortunantly i will not get to start on the build for a while because i'm waiting for it to ship down to Australia.
this will be the first CMPro kit i have, are you happy with the quality? (well, for the price)
what made you decide to epoxy the wings into one piece?
i have been thinking about using a saito 4 stroke engine but i'll wait until i've started the kit before deciding.
love to see some more photos and hear your thoughts on the plane.

I had one 2 years ago. The first thing I did was chuck those 'orrible 'black wire' control rods, brittle as hell! After I put it together as per instructions (took me 2 long evenings) with an AXI 4120/18 up front on a 5s1p 3500 LiPo. More than enough power, near Mach 1.5 at scale speed. Handling was OK but it bored me as the performance was so out of scale. Sold it complete to a pal for £60 (approx $130) - hes now bored and is trying to give it away! If it doesnt fly at something like APPARENT scale speed its just another model! Not a scalie!

The spinner is not included with the kit. I just got mine and am oing with a OS 70 in mine. The 70 four stroke should be a good choice as it seems the plane tends to come in tail heavy. I'm going with a 2.25" truturn 3-blade on mine.

I have one ready for power. I have the cowl cut out for a 70 fs. Yet I am leaning for a nice "E" version too. It so unds so good flying around with a four stroker in the nose but the clean ease of "E" power. What to do?
Mine is all ready 2 plus years old. sitting on the shelf waiting to fly.

It actually flies quite well. Least mine did. Only problem, which more then a few ran into, was the nose gear is very weak. Replaced it with a Robart strut and it was fine afterwards.
I even installed working NAV/beacon/landing lamps on mine. Alas a friend did her in last year.
A tip. Those antenna will last about 2 seconds before you break em off, if you glue em in. I installed mine with rare earth magnets, and a piece of thin bungee cord to keep em safe.
Magnets let em pop off if bumped, the cord kept em from falling off and getting lost.

Anyone have Ideas on a Saito 50 4-stroke for power. I have it installed and ready to fly.... thinking it could be under powered... of course it could be too scale! What do you think??

A 50 might be a little low on power. But I flew mine with a 70 at 1/3 throttle most of the time just cruising around doing eye level fly bye's. She does look good in the air.
Now I have a Monster Power 46 electric motor and a 5s battery.
