ME-163 glow to electric conversion
Hi All
I need some experienced advise with a conversion on my 82 inch ME-163 Komet. I had powered the 12 pound, 82 inch wingspan Komet with a SuperTigre .90 turning an APC 11x11, 12x10 prop. While I did not have lots of thrust on the ground, in the air, the Komet was very fast.
If possible I would like to spin a similar size prop, I'm guessing at 11k or 12k rpm. I am eyeing an AXI 4120/20, however, I have no experience at all with conversions. I do enjoy flying my Park zone electric models but they all come complete, ready to bind and fly.
Please keep in mind that the Komet has amazing glide performance and will be flown with a combination of power on and power off.
Thanks in advance, Sal

Can you post a link to this bird sounds like fun.
Im currently useing a T600880KV Helimotor
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11143
With a Power.60 replacement shaft and prop adapter, with a HK 90/100amp ESC, 1 5000mah 6s 40c Lipo
Im getting around 14,000rpm with a 12X12 APCe prop
This thing screems like a nitro motor, and is makeing my very dragy Balsa USANorthstar over 110mph
If you are to use a nitro prop you need to keep the shaft short as possable and go down to 12X10 APC prop.

Mike
Thanks so much for being the only reply!!! I finally enlisted the help of some well known "Electric" modelers and here's where I am at. The model has been
completed and I am now painting on the markings. I installed a Hacker A50-10L "Turnado" motor with a Castle Creations HV-120 controller. I purchased a pair
of 4S, 5000mah Lipo packs, I believe 45C ratings. I will start off with an 8S configuration. I am going to purchase the CellPro 10XP charger and I need to make a good arming plug/switch assembly. I'll post some photos as soon as I get the markings on.
Cheers, Sal

All
Here are some photos of the Komet with the Hacker A50-10L Turnado motor installed. I am using a Castle Creations HV-120 controller, Futaba 2.4 system,
two 5000mah, 4S packs in series.
Almost ready to fly, just a couple small items left.
Cheers, Sal

RE: ME-163 glow to electric conversion
Finally had the opportunity to test fly the Komet with electric power system. The performance was outstanding. Using a Hacker A50-10L Turnado swinging
an APC 12x12 Prop the Komet had almost limitless vertical performance. Here are some photos. Cheers, Sal
