Recommendations for motors for this twin
Hey Gang
I am building a Cessna T-50 Bobcat in 1/8 scale (The plans say 1/8, I think it's more like 1/12) At any rate the plans say the plane finished will weigh 8-10 lbs. It recommends a set of 40-45 nitro engines (recommendations from 1964) At any rate I want to make it electric and I am somewhat confused while trying to learn about the motor sizes. I do know I need two esc's. I am new to electronic flight so I'd appreciate any advise on what motors I need also a little info about the brands would be good.

First you want to take a look at the e-book at this link for general information.
What sort of performance are you looking for?
I would target about 400 to 500 watts/motor based on 8-10 pounds.
What size props are you looking to turn?

The plans call for 10X6 propellers. I have been reading and trying to learn a little bit more about these motors, I agree with your recommendation. Thanks

OK so here is one way to approach this. We use a calculator. There are a variety but I am going to provide a link to the one for ElectriFly

You will see they have a variety of options. Look around. explore!
Now, if you are doing this for a twin engine then you put in 1/2 the weight for the calculation as it does not do "twins". But logically each motor carries half the load.
Take a look here: http://www.electrifly.com/config/
Select Rimfire for an outrunner and go from there. See what you get as you change the type of plane or pick different battery pack sizes..
Note on the bottom of the page where it shows you the motors that there is a button to see what you might select in AMMO motors. These are the inrunners. Note that they sometimes need a gearbox.
Look at the model number of the motors they recommend. www.towerhobbies.com sells these motors so just search on the model number they give you and the motor should come up.

What would be the largest props you can fit to the airframe... you'll get more thrust from 12" or so than from the 10" to which the nitro engines may have been limited.
