Senior Telemaster
Greetings. I am trying to convert a Senior Telemaster from nitro to electric and have very limited knowledge about the topic. It weighs 12 lbs, and I'm looking for someone to let me know what size power set up will work. (motor,battery, and esc). Thanks for any help

I pulled up the plane on Hobby Express and they say it needs a 60 sized E power. I have this setup in several 60 sized planes and it works very well. You can run APC E props from 16X8 to 18X6 without stressing the system.

That motor sounds OK with the 6s battery and prop. Not sure why you would go with such a low MAH battery? The Telemaster could handle 25,000mah Unless you are trying to save weight, I would go with a large capacity battery for longer flight times.
Not sure how I did the 20amp link to a 60 amp ESC.

I am converting from glow to electric a vintage Lou Andrews Sportsmaster 65" ws bird that I received from a friend. From studying some threads I came across yours and visited the 3 links you listed and Value Hobby seemed to have some good prices. I did not see any motor stand offs that I would need for this open motor box. It's 3" from the back of the motor box to the front edge. I am thinking about using the G60 with a 80amp esc.....thoughts!! Do you know where I can get the stand-offs for the G60and what length would be right for the dimensions? . Thanks in advance for your expertise on this project.

Wully, I have used my own stand offs, I found a piece of PEX tubing at Lowes for 5 buck for 5 feet. I then used 10-32 threaded rod through the pex tubing.

PEX tubing is a hard plastic line they use for ice machines and other low volume water lines but it is tough as nails. It is thick walled, takes a beating without damage. If you can not find tubing like that. You realy could use just the 10-32 threaded rod. Would just have to double nut or nylock nut in place of the tubing.

I use nylon standoffs from the hardware store. They are thicker than Pex and come in sizes to match the size bolt you plan to use. Esprit Models also has a number of motor mounts for various size motors.
Flying a 12 pound plane is going to take more than a 60 A ESC and a cheap motor.
Check out Innov8tive designs Innov8tive Designs/Scorpion products for a great selection of high quality motors, ESCs and related products. Lucien Miller has spent a great deal of time testing motors for different battery and prop combinations so you know just what you will be getting. besides he also includes all the technical specifications for each and every motor. Something that no one else does. You may also want to check out Scorpion Calc.
For a 12 pound plane like the Telemaster you will probably want to consider a Cobra 4120 series or Scorpion 4020 series motor.
All you have to do is call Lucien and ask him.
Personally, I would not use a cheap motor on an expensive plane but that's just me.

Do those straight standoffs really work?
One of my first electric conversions, I used 3/8" aluminum rod, drilled and tapped at each end. One end to the motor mount, one to the firewall. 4 standoffs. First time I started it, it vibrated like crazy even though prop was balanced. I kind of figured the rods were long enough that they were twisting with the torque and snapping back, or something like that.
Turned me off of long standoffs like that, and I need to make a 1 1/2" long motor mount for my own senior tele conversion.
