Has anyone ever converted an old Global Sky Raider kit?

I have 2, one in process and 1 NIB. I also have one that I am flying slime(as some of you fellas call it).
Yes, I am in love with the Sky Raider.

I also have a T28 NIB that I will be looking to convert one of these days.

I went to the NEAT Fair this past September, and you guys have me hooked.

That's one kit I wish I'd bought before they stopped producing it.

What are the specs? Span, engine, weight, wing area, you know, the stuff on the side of the box.

There are more options for powering .40 and larger planes out there than you can shake a stick (pack) at. You can spend a lot, or you can spend a fortune

Thank you for your response. I realize that this conversion won't be a nickle dime deal. But on the other hand neither would a new OS 91. That is what I am using on the plane I am flying now and it flies like a dream.

The specs on the box are as follows:

wing span- 62.5 inchs
wing area- 664 sq. inchs
Overall lenght 51.5 inchs
weight 7.5-9 lbs

I have the fuse almost finished and it weighs in @ 1# 10 ozs.
The cowl weighs 3 ozs.

I have not started the wing yet or the tail fins.

I suppose I should weigh the Raider that I am flying, but that would include the OS91 and a fuel tank and the engine mount.

I also realize that this is a large project that I am looking at, but after seeing the Jap Zero and the Bearcat at NEAT this past September I would like to give it a try.

Heck why not, I am only spending my kids inheritance.

Weigh that flying Raider, with a full fuel tank. That's the weight you'll be shooting for with the electric version.

This sounds similar to a conversion Greg Covey did on his Hangar 9 AT-6 Texan. You might want to check that out.

I'm figuring it'll weigh about 10lbs. 100 Watts/lb means 1000 Watts. 24 cells at 40 Amps. That's the realm of an AXi 4130/16, or a MaxCim, or a big Hacker.
