If you can get 500+ watts for around 40 amps and stay under 5lb's it will be great. I was able to gear my 282010 2:1 W/a 16x10 and got 535 watts. Only 250 W DD.

Not yet Steve....I've got lots of honey dos to take care of first! Soon tho....
Picked up the 40 Funtana this evening....very light! Should be good with the 4130. The .60 U-CAN-DO is a little to heavy....9 1/2 pounds and I think 1400 watts is to much...even if only for 10 to 15 seconds. (9S3P / APC 19/8)

Guys
The screw holes in my MEC motors stripped out yet again and I can't mount the GB. I tried it DD but it pulls too many amps and shut down my SP control after 30 seconds.
I have switched to my AXI 282610 DD. Using a 14x7 prop, I get 500+ watts at under 40 amps on 4S4P kokams. Flight tests in AM.

Note: I broke my 14x7 prop in a hanger accident before this mornings test flight. I went with a 13x6.5 prop getting 577watts and 48 amps WOT static.
Great climb but won't hover on 4S4P Kokam pack and DD AXI 282610. The winds are up and the rain is about to come down so I flew my Magic and Avistar each once and came home.
I'll try again tomarrow.

RE: Electric Magic
beware about pulling too many amps on these kokam. They are notorious for over rating the cells.
consider a "20C" as a 15C and a "15C" as a 10C and you should be safe.

Guys
Wensday was a great afternoon to fly! I took out my Avistar and Magic both E conversions and had five flights. Two with the Avistar and 3 with the Magic and its new AXI 282610 power system. Great straight up performance with a 6000 mah 4S4P Kokam and a 14x7 prop. The trims are all off now from when I was running a geared system and a 17x8 or 16x10 prop. I am guessing less torque with a smaller prop. Did 2 seven minute flights with the 4S pack and one flight with the new 3200 mah 20C 3S pack. With the latter pack, the Magic is as light as a feather. It wanted to take off in two feet with a head wind.
The Avistar flew okay but needed the commuter cleaned.

I tried my new AXI 282610 with a 3S2P 4200 mah pack and a 15x8 prop DD. Unreal preformance. Straight up forever. This is a good light combo. The prop is a little bigger than the HL recomendation, but nothing was hot.

Well I overdid it with the 4S4P 6000 mah 8C lipo pack. I puffed two cells. I'll have to do some splicing and dicing again to get a large pack remade. I let it drain too low or get too hot. The Magic didn't get to LVC, but I was flying for 15 minutes. My system pulls 48 Amps WOT which is the top end of this packs constant drain.
I have made a 4200 mah 20C 4S2P pack. It works great but is heavier. I'm running out of overtime, so I"ll have to go with what I have for now.

Well here's mine. Going to give it a try later this week. AXI 2826/12, 6S2P, old Top Flite super M 12X4 wood prop. In the back ground is the ill-fated Funtana. Went totally out of control after it got a hundred yards away. Flew by itself for a minute or so......just as if someone else was flying it! Fantastic roll rate!! Got to get another one!

Any Flight report yet? I noticed that you gave up on the traditional LG. I did this for a while, but went back to it when I upgraded to lipoly batteries!

RE: Electric Magic
I had a lot of radio problems with it. Haven't figured out what yet but I have gotten one flight so far. Not bad but need to put in a radio that will give me 140% both ways on throws to maximize controls. Just got my 2 9ZAPs back from Futaba after $400 dollars they tell me nothing was wrong! (One was in the Funtana with a brand new reciever!) To be fair they were 12 years old and needed some maintainence. Will try again this friday.

Well I got the 4S4P Kokam 6000 mah 8C pack spliced back togather. It is lighter than the 4S2P 20C 4200 Mah pack but won't take as many Amps. It flies the Magic straight up a little faster than the 20C pack but I am afraid to keep it WOT too long, I might over Amp it again.

My friend Mike and I were flying Magics on Saturday. His is glow with a os 46 and a 10x6 prop and I beat him too altitude evey time. Mine goes straight up until smallaas a fly. His goes straight up 20 feet runs out of momentum and stalls. I think his engine needs tuning. His weighs a pound less than mine.

RE: Electric Magic
Guys
After 3 years of good service and 5 power system try outs, the Magic is dead! It was a fantastic crash! I noticed some control slop just after takeoff, but paid it no mind thinking it was out of trim. I adjusted the trims and was able to gain some control and do a fly by. My son called to me that the plane was making a strange noise. I ignored him and pulled up into a vertical climb of about 200 feet then cut power and went into a flat spin for about 100 ft. When it was time to pull out I let the controls go neutral gave alittle power and the spin stopped, but the plane would not pull up! I cut the power to slow the craft but it continued to accelerate like an arrow from the sky straight and true from the heavens into the earth beneath. It was a good plane.

RE: Electric Magic
More pics!!
The MM took the brunt of the hit and saved the motor. It is now in my Pilatius PC-9 by Seagull Models. The speed control is in my Extra.
A close look at the elevator control rod shows that the servo arm broke on one side. This lead to the slope I was having and the flutter my son heard. When the other side inherited this additional stress it most likely caused the kwik ct to pop out of the other side of the servo's pull-pull system yielding total loss of elevator.
The $288 dollar pack 4S2P Kokam was made into an accordian. No explosions! No puffing! Just folded!
