Hi Harley,

That is one top of the line conversion! I see that you spared no expense from your retracts to your motor selection. Nice job, the H9 Corsair deserves it. It is one great flying warbird!

Thanks Greg,

Horizon did a very nice job with this plane.
The only minor issues that I found are covered in the threads.
And the plane is a pleasure to fly.
I was originally concerned that it was not going to slow up adequately for landing,
but much to my surprise, it does that very well.

However it does like to float like a sailplane, once in ground effect, so I make sure
that I always leave a little extra runway in front of the plane.. (grin).

It would be great to fly both of these Corsairs side by side, but given that we are on
opposite coasts, that might be a bit difficult to pull off....

You're right about the Corsair slowing up nicely. When I did the H9 AT-6 conversion, it came in like a rocket unless you set up the approach properly.

I broke down and ordered some Robart struts recently for my Corsair. I'm not having any problems with the stock retracts so I am replacing only the gear mains with the Robostruts. An $80 investment compared to your more expensive Century Jet Pneumatic Retracts. It will keep the Corsair from bouncing on those less than perfect landings.

My Corsair is scheduled to fly in the noontime demos at the NEAT Fair this September so I have to try to keep it in one piece until then.

Greg I will have to find you at NEAT. I have the same exact conversion that Harley did. I also told him about the Mejlick 16/12 carbon three blade prop. It would be nice if we could get both F4U's in the air at the same time. Maybe some one will show up with a Zero and give him a little scare coming out of the sun.

I flew mine at SEFF but had problems with the gear, as I'm sure most have had. The plane flipped pretty goog and broke some stuff. We managed to fix it in the motor home but the motor mount was pretty beat up. I flew it again after we reinfored the gear, but the thrust line was way off. Now its more better. I replaced the black adjustable mount with the 3 leg mount.

I will take it out tmr if the weather hold out and give it a once over.

You bet! That would look very cool and be worth a spot in the SKS video.

I already have a noontime demo scheduled for my Corsair. Perhaps we can fly them together for the demo?
