Default Opinions on power for a DPM SuperCub ARF

I'm a 30+ year glow user and have just been dabbling in electrics.

Just took delivery on a Dave Patrick Models SuperCub ARF and think it would be a logical conversion to electric. (Don't want to cut-up the cowl to fit my Saito 180.)

Here's the Cub's specs:
Wing Span: 106 in.
Wing Loading: 18.5 ounces per square foot
Wing Area: 1,600 sq in.
Length: 72 in.
Weight: 12.5 and up lbs. (depending on engine)
Engine: .90-1.50 glowm 25cc gas

In looking around, I found that the SR Batteries' Eindecker is very similar in size/weight, etc. They recommend an AXI 4130/20 motor on 24 NiMH cells. Looks like a nice, cheap system.

I'd be interested in any other opinions on what to use for power - keeping in mind that I'm not independently wealthy!

Thanks.

Well, that's precisely what I would've recommended for that plane. A fellow in my club is setting up a Senior Telemaster (8' wingspan) with the exact same power setup, using a 16x10 prop.

Hi,

I would recommend Actro 40-5 or 40-6, it swings much larger props with very good efficiency.
I have used in my 1/4 Sig J3, aerotowing etc with Actro 40-6, 10s2 kokam 3270 flight pack, it performs
beautifully. For scale flying I have used Menz 19x8"(5700rpm, peak 38A static), aerotowing 4meter scalegliders 19x11" Menz or APC-E,
also 20x112 Menz works very well on tow business. On ezone there is a thread about DPM Super Cub conversion.

Br,
Hannu
