Default Gas control line airplane converted to electric RC plane

Do not know if this is the right place to post. HAs anyone converted a gas control lin plane to an electric RC plane? I found some really cool COX contro line planes and was wondering if they could be converted to electric RC planes. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

There are some pretty tough challenges in converting a control line to radio control. Control line planes are designed to go around in circles, up, and down. Aside from the obvious need for rudder and ailerons, many have asymmetrical wings. Many planes are not designed to carry more than their own weight; adding radio equipment and a flight battery can introduce some unwanted characteristics.

That's not to say that it can't, or shouldn't, be done. It'll just be a challenge, that's all

I agree with the above, MAYBE if it is a symmetrical WOOD airplane, not plastic. When i was little i used to have the cox plastic c/l plane and they dont fly at all.

Now now... I also had a couple of Cox control line airplanes, and I was eventually able to fly them. Granted, I'm still dizzy from the experience, with those little buggers going around in a circle at MACH 4 on the end of a 20' line because anything longer was too heavy.

The secret was in the launch, or lack thereof. We finally figured out that a sheet of plywood, propped up as a ramp, made a great aircraft carrier deck. Plane runs up ramp, falls off the end, and usually flies. Getting them started was another story...
