I have been flying a TT Lazy Tiger with a OS 32 SX and want to build another and use an electric motor.
I am consider an AXI 2814 or 2820, any suggestions I will use a Kokam 2000 or 2100 15-20c lipo anf 9x6 prop.
Also I am considering a Mega Motor 2220 series. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.


After I posted this I found a previous thread about the Lazy Tiger but there was no nention of the Axi type motors

I would personally go with a 3S pack of 20C 2100s if you have a problem with throttle control, otherwise the 15C 2000s will be more than adequate, because this plane won't need lots of throttle. You're going to want to shoot for a target current of 30-35 Amps.

Take a look at the 2820/10 on www.modelmotors.cz, particularly the application chart, and even more specifically, the 10-cell numbers. 3S LiPoly is about the same as 10 NiCd cells. IIRC, a 10x7 or maybe 11x7 prop will put you right in the ballpark.

Thanks for the comments, I just purchased an AXI 2814/10 + Jeti 30-3p speed controller. A great price too!



This combination should handle a 3.5 plane very well.

I have successfully completed the maiden flight with my Lazy Tiger P51 powered by an Axi 2814/10 , 2 Thunder Power 2100 11.1v wired in parallel. The first flight was only about 2 minutes, so I switched from a Jeti to a Phoenix 35 speed controller. It is much easier to program with the optional USB cable. The second flight was about 7 minutes at various throttle settings. I previously had a glow powered Lazy Tiger, one configuration used a Magnum .28 and another used an OS 32 SX. The Axi 2814/10 and the Magnum perfromance is very comparable. The OS 32 SX ismuch stronger. Overall I am quite pleased with the results. My next conversion will be a Hangar 9 Aresti, then a Sig Wonder.

What made you go with the 2814 instead of the 2820? Wait a sec. I'm pretty sure AXi doesn't make a 2814/10. Was that a typo?

Any ideas why the first flight only went 2 minutes? What happened that caused you to land?

If you're not frying the ESC, you should easily get 10 minutes out of that pack.

I went with the 2814/10 http://www.hobby-lobby.com/brushless-axi2814.htm because of the lower current draw an weight.
I have more experience with Phoenix spped controllers. I think the short flight was because the Jeti was not setup correctly.
