Center Of Gravity
Working on next conversion project and wonder how the rest of you handle the center of gravity for your conversions. I wind up with a lot of Pb in the nose when I replace the engine, muffler, fuel tank, receiver battery and replace with motor, batteries, etc. Should I make the nose longer, move other components, or what???

Frankly, it hasn't been a problem. The battery makes great moveable dead weight.
There's nothing saying you can't move the battery THROUGH the firewall, or even put it completely in front of the firewall to make the plane balance without adding extra weight.
Of course, it depends on the plane. Some planes require signifigant amounts of lead even with glow/gas engines. Many radial-engine designs come to mind, like the Wacos, Stearmans, etc.. If you needed to add a bunch of lead on the glow version, and you go with a lightweight LiPoly and brushless setup, it may be necessary to use lead.

Matt, thanks for your experience.
I am using LiPo and by going to a Actro external rotor and heavier motor, and moving/modifying the firewall, I should be able to use the rest of the kit parts. I was just wishing for some other ideas. I'm used to adding lead but try to avoid it too much I guess.
