I have a Phaeton II biplane kit that begs for E-conversion (my first atempt at conversion) as a winter project. I'm considering a LiPo powered AXI or equivalent. Anyone done this? I suspect I'll have to consider lightening methods. I see many at 7-8 pounds all-up and reports of 6+ sans power plant.

Appreciate any comments.

Sounds like some serious opportunities for lightening. Balsa USA kit, right?

I believe this is a .40-size. You've got a couple ways to go with AXis now. The 4120/14 works well when you need a little extra nose weight, spins a 12x8 prop on a 4S2P Kokam 2000 (15C) LiPoly pack, drawing 41 Amps. They've also come out with the new 2826 series motors, which spin ".40-size" props (i.e. 10x6 11x6) at .40-size RPMs (i.e. 10000+ RPM) on 4S LiPolys as well.

Thanks for the info. I apologize for not responding sooner and can offer no good excuse except I lost track of the posts I had out! Your suggestions pretty much reenforce my own thinking. Ithink this will be a decent project if time allows this winter.
