Yes, I saw a thread link, evaluation of this model indicating that the first couple of kits had a problem with the dye balsa, however, the later kits came with great improvements.

I have a Butterfly that I occasionally fly with a .19 glow engine. I would like to convert it to electric so I could use it in an area that is noise sensitive. I am not knowlegeable on electric power and would like to know what size motor, esc, and battery combinations would work short of going brushless which I can not afford. Thanks to all that can find the time to contribute to my question. Dave

I am in the process of rebuilding my almost 20 year old Butterfly after crash last year. The wing and tail feathers survived but the fuse did not. I did not pay much attention to the parts when I picked up the pieces. I need to know the distance from the bulkhead at the leading edge of the wing to the firewall.

Mark finally flew this model Monday (08-02-2010) and did so for 20 minutes with 3-Cell Li-POLYs and he had to reduce propeller size.

Weather was just perfect and the translucent covering looked great in the air!

Just a wonderful model.

I like the colors. I love these power gliders. I built the Butterfly last year and had an os25fx on the nose. One flight and I knew I had to go elecric. I have since built the Piece o cake and have an E-flite park 450 in her. But I am still itching to finish the elec. conversion BF. I have an Eflite power 15 going on the Butterfly, she may take to the air this weekind!
Its always great to see other builds of the Graceful Butterfly! and it little sister.

Well, I volunteered to cover the model for Mark back in early 2005 and it was a pain in the RUSTY DUSTY because he had the model in just rough balsa and lite plywood all assembled but, required lots of sanding due to humid conditions the model endured in his garage. Yes, I do agree that the Bright White and Bright RED is a great combination for the cover job and reason why I did it in those colors.

Love the color scheme! My dad has a Butterfly that he built back in 1978 and has hundreds of documented flights. Who knows how many people have learned to fly with it, but it's got to be around 50 or so.

It's had a O.S. .25 engine, but will be converting it to electric this winter. Hope we have as good of results as you guys have.

The older kits (Marks Models and earlier Dynaflite) turned out lighter, but it's still an excellent design.
