Shutoff and Charging Question?
I have converted my .40 size plane to electric. Once the batteries are in the plane there is no way to get to the charge plugs without taking off the wing. What can I do to be able to recharge and leave the wings on?
Also, what about an on-off switch? Can you run the lead from the speed controller through a switch harness like we do with a glow engine?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Hal

RE: Shutoff and Charging Question?
1) the solution is an opening hatch thru the fuse, which will give you access to the cells.
2) I have on/off switch but it is linked with a sbec which feeds the radio Rx.
3) I don't think so as you have 30A+ running thru these cables.

RE: Shutoff and Charging Question?
Yes you can run the ESC plug through a switch harness. It DOES NOT carry 30 amps+. It has milliamp control currents only in those skinny wires. The current goes in those heavier wires which should not go through any switch unless designed for those currents.
However DO NOT leave the battery connected even though the switch is off. The ESC will continue to draw a low current which will eventually drain your battery - a disaster if you have lipos - the voice of experience.

Slacsteve: I noticed that the first time I unplugged a Jeti 40 and drew that 1/4 " spark even though the switch was OFF!
