Default 28% Extra special conversion

I have togheter with a friend converted 28% Extra 300special from wild hare, very nice ARF with high quality! to power this plane we pict a Actro 60-175 after comparing lotts of motors, batterys we chosed 10s2p Polyquest 4000 cells (8000mAh) we have good experience with polyquest cells from erlier conversions.

It was hard to find a controller that could handle this big motor, after testing actronic 80-32, Schulze Future 40.70 and Jetis Advance 90 controller we faound that the Jeti worked best with this motor, Köhler and Schulze are still working on a solution for this motor, so in the future we might have the chanse to try it on 12s Lipo.

Final weight of plane is 8,3kg, motor is swinging a 27x13" APCE prop @ 75amps 33v, this plane worked best on 26x15" APCE for more speed, we will also try some big 3bladed props fore more trust.

Default RE: 28% Extra special conversion

Tha plane flyes very good, today we flew for total of 25min with lotts of aerobatic, the motor is only set up to barley 2500watts, but still makes this plane go vertical after takeoff, the motor can handle much more i think, after 4 flights and total 25min in 20c degreed outside temp the controller was cold, batterys 45c, motor outside temp was only 35c and motor windings 55c !!! this data was taken after 10min of hard aerobatic, Actro motors are top quality and can handle up to 120c in its core.

The motor runns very quiet and smooth, in a flyby we could hear the servos inside the plane working.

Looks like a cool project. When I look on Actro's web site www.actromotors.com I don't see the 60-series motors mentioned you are using...

To get information of the 60 motors, go to aeronauts page and download the 2005 news.
