Default Hanger Nine ultra stick 60 conversion

I am converting an Ultra Stick 60 to electric. I am using an AXI4130/16 motor. I would like to use 6s lipo pack of about 4200 mah. Will this power system with a 15x10 apc electric prop give me good sport performance? I don't need a 3-d monster, just strong aerobatic performance. The plane is very light, I think less than 4 lbs without the battery.

That is actually a pretty good setup. That airplane will probably weigh 6 pounds ready to fly? My only suggestion would be to try a 16x8 which would give you more thrust and less prop speed. Here are the numbers I come up with:

15x10 -- 108 ounces of thrust -- 65 mph -- 36 amps -- 753 input watts
16x8 -- 124 ounces of thrus -- 52 MPH -- 37 amps -- 767 input watts

I don't think the ultra stick light was meant to be a speed demon so perhaps the 16x8 would work better?

Anyway, I think you're on the mark. Should be fun.

15*10 is rather mild. That's what I use on my 8lb H9 warbirds. Try also the 16*10

I have 16x10, 15x8,15x10,and a 17x10 so I guess I should probably try them all. the only problem I can see is prop clearence with the 16 and 17 inch props. This is my first electric conversion so I really don't know what to expect. I have a glow powered ultra stick 40 which is powered by a .46 2 stroke and it's a blast! I hope the e-powered 60 performs as well as the 40 without the cleanup and the support equipment.

It should perform just as well if you get the setup right.

I have replaced the gear on a couple of airplanes to get better clearance. Prop selection (efficient operation) is just more important for electrics. I used the opportunity to go carbon fiber and lighten up the airplane a bit while I was getting the additional clearance.
