what lipos on my GP rayan 120
Hi guys,So far I have the fallowing components:axi 5320/28,18x12 apc E prop,CC Phoenix 85 HV ESC.kool flight UBEC 45 volts.and all the support equipment needed(watt meter, chargers etc.).So I just need the lipos, about big lipos I don't know much ,I fly my rayan with a saito 180,but its going electric for sure.I don't expect the same performance but solid aerobatics and at least 12 minutes flights would be nice.leaving in a small town I learned every thing I know in this forum and in RC groups, but about the battery I really need to ask you for your advice and help.THANKS a lot.

Hobby Lobby did a similar conversion [link=http://www.hobby-lobby.com/g2e-gpryansta.htm]click here[/link]. I rcommend you thoroughly check out FMA Balance Pro HD if you want reliability and performance. [link=http://www.fmadirect.com/new_applications/BPHDSplashPG/]FMA Direct[/link]

I think you're going to be disappointed with the 5320.
I was conviced that this was the way to go on mine too. The performance will not be adequate for this plane given the weight and power to rpm ratio's. The loading will be huge both in watts/lb and wing loading in oz/sq. ft. I don't claim to be an expert in this. But I can give you the benefit of my experience with this plane and the electric conversion.
After many suggestions, I too went with the HL conversion. Also checked it against MotoCalc and Electricalc. Both more or less agreed. I opted for the 90 size esc over the one suggested by HL. Motocalc suggested a thermal problem- Our summer was hot and humid and the input I used was 95deg. f. and 95%humidity. The 17-10 prop works the best also. If you read the post that I have here on RCU, I think you will be conviced too. GP Ryan Conversion.
Good luck!

you are right guys,I don't know what I was thinking,I am going to try the axi 4130/16 and if I am disapointed with the performance,I can always use that set up on another airplane,"60 size planes ,there are many" ,When I checked the prices on lipo batteries for my axi 5320/24 ($750.00) I noticed that the technology for big electrics is here but the prices are not,So until then I 'll be flaying small to medium size electrics and fly my rayan with that saito 180 when I feel the need of flying something big. Thanks guys.

I hear that ! The Li-Po prices are coming down, slowly, but down.
The RCU [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_132/p_/tmode_1/smode_1/tt.htm]Glow to Electric Conversions [/link] forum is a good place to keep coming back. GReg Covey has some thorough reviews =
[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=550]Hangar 9 33% Edge 540 - Part 2[/link] and also writes about the conversion as it happens = [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3570024/tm.htm]Hangar 9 33% Edge 540 - Part 3[/link]. When considering a conversion it probably is a good thing to begin by considering the weight of the known flying object, and then the expected performance can be predicted quite well by considering the watts-per-pound nuumbers. = [link=http://www.coloradogliders.com/glowtoelectriccalculator.htm]The Colorado Gliders[/link] have worked this subject for a while now.
