GreatPlanes Giant PT-19
5 years age I built and converted the GreatPlanes Giant PT-19 to electric power. With batteries and motors evolving big time over the past 5 years I though it was time for an upgrade. The original specs were:
Great Planes Giant PT-19 ARF (120 size)
Wing Area 1027sq. in. (82.5in)
Wing Loading 24.1oz
AUW 172oz (Glow 9.5-10.5lbs)
Hacker B50 10L Geared 6.7-1
Schultze 80fo ESC
18 RC2400 Cells
16x10 APC-E Prop
40 Amps at Full Throttle
70 Watts Per Pound
5 Hitec HS-225BB Servos
Super Slim Receiver
This system has worked great for years and performance was very impressive for such a big plane. Well I have 4S3P ThunderPower packs I use in smaller planes so put 2 of them together and I have around 28volts to play with at the same weight of my old 18 cell nicads plus almost triple the capacity. There is a tone of motor choices these days but the Hacker line has worked so well for me I stayed with them. Hacker has recently started producing big out runners and the A50-16L looked about right for this plane and battery. I have played with different size prop and have settled on a 19x10apc-e prop witch pulls around 57amps producing over 1500watts. PT-19’s don’t need to hover but it sure is fun having enough power to.
I did a quick Google search and it turns out GreatPlanes has discontinued this plane so I you want one better get one quick before all the hobby stores are sold out.

RE: GreatPlanes Giant PT-19
Hi, I too have a GP PT-19 and have a 4120 AXI and 22.2 volts and it flies very scale, not a power house but it pretty well matches the performance of the full scale Cornell that I had for years. I still prefer my scale models to fly like their big brothers. In my opinion this plane is one of the best electric large conversions out there. You're right, if you find one buy it. Norm
