60'' wingspan conversion
my buddy just gave me a unfinished aviomodelli tango it's pretty old(couldn't find the year), but it is for glow, i'm not sure i'm ready for glow
lets get to the cut,
wana convert to electric
it has a 60 inch wingspan
does anybody know if it's possible to convert, if so any suggestion on powerful electric motors and electronics

6.5 - 7.5CC motor (looks to be .40-45)
The motor that I'm using is the AXI 2826 series -- the /10 is about a .40 equivalent while the /12 is closer to a .45 in power.
Castle Creations Phoenix 45 ESC with a Polyquest 4s 3300mah li-poly pack and a seperate RX battery.
Check for similar conversions around here and on the RCGroups website as well as the newsgroups.

You should base you motor and power system on the weight of the plane NOT the wing span. Once you have the weight, then get a power system to produce the desired "Watts per pound". Generally, sports flyers should use a power system that will produce about 100 Watts of power per pound weight of the plane. The power system includes the motor, battery, ESC, and propeller. All of these components will need to be "sized" to produce the desired Watts/Lb.

2nd that. Go by weight first, however it does look like a .40-.46 size. I would guess it would be about 6 to 7lbs, you would be good with an Axi 2826 or 4120, Eflite Power 46, Hacker A50-12S.... For simplicity, look at a the Eflite motors, the number represents which size motor it's comparable to.

it's weight is 5.3-5.8lbs (i don't know if that is with engine or not) but if that is with engine it will be lighter with an electric engine

Well, I really suggest you go to RC Groups or WattFlyer and read some of the info on electric power systems. You have some misconceptions about electric powered planes. First, it is a motor, not an electric engine. Secondly, converting to electric does not always result in weight reduction - the batteries really add a lot of weight. Some electric conversions (high power) result in a heavier final weight. Third, the electric conversion will certainly have a higher initial cost than going with a glow engine.
