Default GP Lancair e-conversion

Hi everyone!
I want to put an electric motor in my GP Lancair,I've bought from my buddy

I've been looking for a good engine and found this one - [link=http://www.aircraft-world.com/prod_datasheets/hp/z40/z40all.htm]Hyperion 4035[/link]
What do you think about this setup on 8s2p A123? I'm not sure whether it is not toooo much... Maybe it would be 6s?
Which speed controler should I use - CC or Hyperion Titan? If i would go on 8s I would have to take HV version which is pretty expensive :]

Anyone tried this setup?
Which 3-blade prop would be the best?

Thanks!

I think 6S lipo would be a good start. That should give you some scale performance. With an 8S lipo set up you will really have fun for sure. Maybe with a 6S set up you can go with the 4035-12 with a coarse pitch prop of about 16x10 at the least or the 4035-10 with a smaller prop for higher RPMs. That may only give you about 1,100W max. But with 8S lipo I am sure the performance will be superb with the 4045 motor.

Here are some good conversion links:

I have purchased Hacker C-50 L. I'm going to use 7 or 8 s2p A123 packs on it. It will give me 4,5 - 5 kg of thrust with apx. 10 minutes of flying time.
Here are some shots:

I don't know where can I buy gearbox for this motor. I want to go with 6.7:1 or 5.2:1 - do You know where can I buy one? Its shaft diameter is 5mm (0,196")

I just bought one of these Lancairs. So what is the latest and greatest on this project? I have been searching around and I think I will be using an AXI 4130/16, 14 inch vario 3 blade prop with a 6S 5000mah battery.

Hi Gary!

I have finally went with the same motor AXI4130/16, have two 6s 3700 FP packs and CC80 ESC. Haven't maiden it yet, hope to do this next week. Now I have 16x10 xoar prop but it almost touches the ground so I will probably go with 15x10 xoar or as you said 14 vario 3 blade. I need to check the amp draw as well. I bought axi because I coudn't find a gerbox for my hacker.

15x10 would be nice ... mine had a 15x6 on the Saito 100. I guess with your set up the 16x10 will pull about 55A, no more than 60A. That was what most AXI 4130/16 on 6S and a 16x10 were doing. I had that set up in my WM Super Chipmunk and I pulled less than 60A. Now you make me feel like getting a Lancair ...

I made the same door opening on mine just on the left side. I ordered some gear door hinges for the door so it will swing up out of the way further and stay open. Good luck with your first flight and let us know what type of flight times you are getting with that configuration.

How did you manage to cut such a nice hatch in the fiberglass without messing up the edges of either the door or the fuselage?

I had a "scratched and dent" model that I cut out the door on. The door was fine but the fuse was ugly. How did you cut yours out?
