Super Jake build/conversion thread

Okay well It looks like I'm winging it on the super jake. I have never even flown an electric and to be honest i havn't been in the hobby for very long, but I don't care. I'm doing it. I just got the fuselage finished, and the motor mounted. I hooked it all up and ran it through my meter. Did solid on a 60 second test. I'm running a hobbywing fun fly 40A ESC, a Value hobby G10 motor, and Value hobby Gforce 3S 2200 mah 20C Lipos. The ESC and Battery got just a little warm and only pulled 25A with a 9 X 6 E prop. Not too shabby and it felt like it had loads of thrust. I don't really know how to calculate this so if anyone has a fromula I'd like to see it. I think the plane is going to come in at a touch over 2 lbs maybe 2.5 lbs when its finished. A little heavy I think, but the motor should have no problem getting it in the air.

I cut a little off the cowling for a couple of reasons. I didn't want to push the motor out front any more because it is already nose heavy enough so that should help at least a little bit when it comes time to balance the plane, and it's kinda related to the later but also just so I didn't have to use stand offs. It is going to be a little bit of a pain to mount the nose landing gear, but I thinki can pull it off. I'm new so I will have plenty of opportunities in the future to do thing differently. If any of you have any input on where Ican put the battery and ESC to help with the COG on this plane I would appreciate it. Also what are your thoughts on mounting the servos in the back of the plane? I'm tossing that idea around a bit and I'd like a little input.

Thanks

Danny
