Receiver batteries and lipo power

can 4.8 v receiver batts. Be used along with lipo packs in a glow to elrctric conversion in the same receiver?

Well if you pull the red lead from the ESC at the plug where it plugs into the Rx, then power the radio with a 4 cell battery. Not sure why you would though?

Thanks for the info. By doing this I dont have to rely on the lipo to run the servos which are standard size servos and not mini's. More weight is on the plane but I think its a good trade off.

Most newer ESC's have a BEC capable of powering 4 or 5 big digital servos. I use the BEC in the ESC on my glider tug, it is powering 6 full size digital servos.

Another way would be to run a separate BEC, small light weight.

You have some options depending on your desire for redundancy, weight, and cost.

External BEC is one option, removing the red wire and running a rx battery is another, and you can also just use the included BEC in most cases.

Buzz you say to pull the red wire. My esc has different colors. I assume you mean the center wire that is the negative? Can it be cut and joined if neede some other time? It is put into slot one that is the throttle. I assume at that point it just starts the motor with juice from the lipo only?
thanks.

The center wire but its the positive.

You can use an exacto and gently lift the locking tab and slide the pin out and tape it back.

The lightest colored wire is the signal and the darkest is ground.
