Carl Goldberg Tiger II ARF
 

Here are some pictures of my new sport plane. I converted a Carl Goldberg ARF to electric powered. Plane was built box stock, no mods at all. Power setup is a new Hacker C50-13S geared 6.7 to 1, Master 70 AMP ESC, 5s3P 6000 ma TP LiPo pack 1st Gen & APC 14 x 10 E prop. Pulls 41 AMPS (790 Watts) at 7600 RPM. Plane RTF weighs in a 6 lbs 10 oz. This motor was designed for LiPo use ande high temp use. Work great here in AZ. 1st flight was today and went great lots of power. Will go vertical but not unlimited. This is a great power package for this size plane. I'll try to answer any questions you have.

3 blade prop
 

Added a 13" Vario 3 bladed prop to the Tiger Since the above pictures were taken. Still able to keep the 47 AMP draw which provide a very nice vertical climb. Pitch is set at 13 inch. This really improved the flight of this plane over the 13 X 10 APC I was using. The Vario prop is giving the same type performance as the APC 14 x 10 I was using but will better clearance.

I am thinking of getting this plane and converting. I have never done any conversions and wondering what I would need to do to get it done.

Bob, I have been flying the Tiger II for almost 2 years using an AXI 4120/18 direct, Jeti 70 w/o bec, with a TP 4200 5s2p or 4500 5s1p battery and a 12x8 prop, either APC-E (may deform), APC sport or wood Zinger (lighter). I think the max draw is 40amps. Flight times 8-10 min with good speed and aerobatics. Added air vents are needed to cool the battery. I prefer the tail-dragger version to avoid bending the front gear. I've enjoyed flying this setup, Jim

Bob, sorry, I meant to say I am using an AXI 4120/14, the faster 4120 version (660 rpm/V). It can run at 50 amps to give about 900 watts. I use the slower version (515 rpm/V) on a nice biplane, the SIG Sundancer 50, with a larger 13x7 or 14x6 prop. Jim
