Lincoln 61 glow???
Anyone out there ever heard of a LINCOLN model airplane engine??? We were at the semi-annual swap meet in Sacramento, CA today and lo and behold there was a lincoln 61 glow engine, made in Taiwan. It is not a one up as it came in a regular engine box. Both the box and engine were bright red.

Some guy in the Carolinas commissioned a batch of these about 6 yrs ago. After a few months, he sold them all to Uncle Bob Boumstein http://bobsengines.com/
He usually has them at the big swap meets.
They are a rather average 61 with no problems.

I think Megatech is just a marketing distribution company?
Probably the same company made the Megatech engines for they looked alike.
I always thought they came from the Shanghai area of China? there's always been a mystery But they don't seem to have any problems.

I heard (but have no actual experience) that they are re-badged LEO's. A copy of the old O.S. .61 SF?
Can anyone post a pic of the Lincloln so we can verify or refute this?

RE: Lincoln 61 glow???
Three or four years ago I wrang one of those out for Brian Cooper, (fuelman), it was rather large and heavy for a .61 but ran very well. It was black with a red head. The color coating came off very easily. It was very smooth running, probably due to its weight.
Here is a link to that test. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_40...tm.htm#4042940

The terms "large" and "heavy" are relative, Hobbsy. My most often-run .61 2-stroke is my Super Tigre G-61 ringed on my King Kobra. If there is a larger, heavier .61 2-stroke available than that one, I haven't seen it! Everything seems lighter and smaller than my G-61.

I get the idea that Uncle Bob has sold all the ones he had. You might see a Lincoln at a swap meet?
LEO still makes 61's, they just don't say Lincoln on them.
Just Engines in the UK sells them as JEN engines
They also have other names on them from other sources.

RE: Lincoln 61 glow???
I bought one of these engines 2 years ago at the Toledo show. I have it in my 4 star 60 and it works fine. Very reliable and easy to start. It's no O.S. but it been hauling this bird around for the past 2 years and is still working great. It was cheap ad has certainly paid for itself many times over.

RE: Lincoln 61 glow???
Leo, Megatech, Lincoln, they all seem to be the same.
As far as I can tell, the .46 is a true clone of the OS .46SF while the .61 is not. The .61 has a 23mmX24mm bore and stroke but the timing is not the same as the SF and the carb is smaller. The build quality looks similar to a thunder tiger to me, yet slightly better than magnum, maybe? Just my opinion here........
