Stand off type Engine mount for OS 55AX
Hi All,
I'm considering purchasing a Kyosho Edge 540 from my LBS. Its the EP versionbut Iwant to fit a Glow engine.
OSmentions that they have the Stand off type mount for airplanes that require that type of mounting but I cannot find a par t number of picture anywhere.
I'd like to use this mount to convert the EP Edge to a GP Edge.
Does anyone have a part nukber and picture of the mount?

You would make these. They are just a flat plate of 3mm aluminum that is drilled to accept the four back plate bolts. Do find a set of fasteners that are longer than the original back plate bolts by about 3mm. The plate should be large enough to span across any aircraft structure to allow you to use what ever size and length tubing you need to set the off set (stand off) from the structure. I would use some sort of "ALL THREAD" rod that would screw into a set of blind nuts buried in the aircraft structure. And on the engine side i'd use two nut as a jam nut set up with one of them being a nylock type.
The short of it is custom make your own to fit your engine and airframe.
All the best,
Konrad

Exactly. Something like that. The one shown is not set up for stand offs but they can be added rather easily. It is for a rather narrow front end. I think it is fitted for a 2.25" x 2.25" flat plate firewall.

Not bad, are you going to use the rubber spacers too?
Use a separate screw to seat the blind nuts, before you use the rubber spacers.
I ran a rubber isolation mount years ago, not this one though, and it was pretty cool to watch the engine wobble at idle, but it would straighten out at speed though.

Yes I will most likely use rubber spacers but probably just at the end. I've seen some pattern planes with mounts so flexy that it looks like the fuse can overtake the engine in flight!

Earl,
The photo you posted of the OS LA engine, is reversed... Left is right and right is left...
This 'mirror effect' usually happens, when using film (as was one of the most spectacular footages from December 7th, 1941 at Pearl Harbor)...
Look at the OS badge on the head and on the side; and at the carburettor's mis-configuration...
