Default Enya 25 SS - oil mix

I just purchased a brand new Enya 25 Super Sport on eBay and in looking over the recommended fuel mixes they all show 20% caster.

Is 20% castor really necessary. If not what other mixes can I use? Note I have a HB 15 that I want to run on the same mix.

Also the break in instructions for the Enya simply state to run the engine rich for 1-2 hours. Is that all there is to breaking in this engine?

The 25 engine is going on a Falcon 56. I assume this will be a good match.

If you have the non AAC then you do need full castor, same goes for the HB .15 which is definitely of the old iron/steel type. The castor creates a build up on the iron piston that prevents metal to metal contact and helps to seal, so don't try to cheat on this point.

If you have the iron piston version then it needs to be run in absolutely slobbering rich to begin with and then very slowly leaned out (but still 4 stroking) for around an hour before attempting any 2 stroking. It could take 2-3 hours before it's fully run in. At least 20% all castor should be used but a bit of added synthetic could help keep it clean inside.

I just finished breaking-in my Enya 25 SS. I bumped the oil percentage in my fuel 5% by adding castor. The engine runs perfectly with 10-12 flights on it and no dead sticks! I hope this helps you.

But do you have the cast iron piston version?

I have three 30ss Enyas and have run them all on 1/2 castor 1/2 synthetic for a few seasons. Seems fine...I don't think you need all castor.
