Du-Bro Muff'l Aire Mufflers
I just picked one of these up for my Webra 60 and looking forward to trying it out. From the looks of it, I wish they still made them. My used pack came with only seven of the eight plates. I'm one short from what they recommend for my size motor but I dont think it will make much of a difference?
Anyone use one before?

Unfortunately, they don't reduce the noise by much. So many clubs now use the AMA rules on it. If your engine passes the noise rules then it is still Ok to use it. If you club only has a rule that you have to use a muffler, then you met the requirement. But if they have some maximum noise rule then you could have problems. Our club has a DB meter at the flying field to settle any dispute about noise.
Now if you are flying control line you may still be able to use it as they seem to still allow tongue mufflers on the engines at many CL flying locations.

The DuBro Arise muffler I am familiar with was a cone or top shaped device with steps to fit the back end of a regular muffler. Inside were baffles, but not plate type.
What you have is apparently a scaled down SuperTrapp muffler designed for motorcycles. More plates equal more gaps to pass gas and thus less back pressure so more noise and vice versa. As said above, they clog easily and were not recommended for 2 stroke motorcycle engines because of this, but a buddy had 'em on his Kawasaki 900 2 stroke triple.

Sounds perfect for the boat its going on. An old Dumas Drag N Fly 60. I also have a flow through type muffler to try out. Thought about using a pipe and header on it but I don't think it would benifit being a baffle piston, no scavenging. If things are too loud where I'm going to run at I might have to step over to the pipe just for the less decibles.
Loud and oily is okay along with the maintenance. Thats powerboating [8D]

Hi Proptop, no boats yet for my new fleet of motors and kits but by the end of this summer I should have at least one fresh one done out of many. I'm at the stage of building my woodshop for them. Just my two existing boats so far. A sport 40 hydro and a 21 tunnelhull that I've ran. Cars and houses need to stop breaking for me for a little while so I can get up to speed on the boat building. A lot of motors and hardware already have been prepared for them and waiting
