Default Saito 100T

Hello All,
I've been considering a twin for an upcoming Cub build and I found the Saito line of twins on Horizon. I noticed that the 100T (coming in Aug.)
is considerably less money than the 90T and even the 60T. Any thoughts on why that might be?
All input appreciated.

The 90TS and 60T have double throw cranks and a single stick cam shaft. They have an even firing order where one cylinder fires every 360 degrees. This engine runs very smooth.

The 100T has a single throw crank and the second cylinder fires 180 degrees after the first then it is 540 degrees before the first cylinder fires again. It has two cams made like the cams on a single cylinder Saito. This engine is cheaper to make. This engine sounds a little like a Harley motorcycle engine.

w8ye, thanks for your input. I'm a big Harley fan so your explanation makes makes sense. However it would also seem that it will probably run with more vibration so I may need to look for a rubberized mount of some sort. Thanx Again.

The 100T doesn't vibrate as much as a single cylinder 100

Good Point . Anything different with run in on a twin as opposed to single cyl. four strokes, or should I just refer to the manual for that info?

The 100T has twin Siamese air bleed carbs whereas the 90TS has a single twin needle carb.

You need two glow starters for either engine.

The twin carbs are easy to adjust. You just peak each carb.

Both engines are a pleasure to use.

The 100T has more power and weighs and costs less than the 90TS.

I've never experienced any plug going cold problems with either.

There's more internal friction with a twin than a single. Therefore you cannot get the same RPM from the same prop as you do the same size single cylinder engine.

I have and use both the 80T and the 90T and vibration is neglible on both. Great engines. The 80T's came with a single carb and were a bear to set. The 90T came with the twin carb and is very easy to set. I replaced the single carbs on my 80T's with the twin carbs and they work like the 90T's.

They fire like this; bang, bang, exhaust, exhaust. The pistons are both always moving in the same direction. They use tongue and fork connecting rods like a Harley on the same crank pin. If you could shift the cylinders to a 45 degree angle you'd have a Harley engine. Or 90 degrees whatever a Harley is.

The 80T, 80T, and 100T are very much alike and all have the same firing order.

The 60T and 90TS are even firing with two throws on the crankshaft and are very much alike. They look like they should be a Continental opposed twin.
