Yes, it is a ringed engine. Replacement rings are still available.

The groove in that piston looks far too small for a ring. Looks like a piston from an ABC car engine that have oil grooves cut into them. I certainly could be and probably am wrong but I've never seen a ringed piston with a ring that narrow.

This is no ring in the engine, it is a oil groove into the piston.

Hi........That engine is a early OS "FSR-ABC".................ringless. No ring.

They made both versions..............The FSR version being "ringed" and the FSR-ABC version being ringless.

I currently have that engine (piped) in a Glen Spickler sport 500 & it is a screamer.

Enjoy

pardon my rudeness here, but in your other thread you claim to have done "drag engines" for 18 years and you can't tell that this is a simple oil groove?

the groove you see however was when OS had their act together, but certainly can't be mistakin for a ring groove[:-]

just put a gas carb on it like you did that poor ol Como and have fun

Not enough material in piston to make ring groove. Better to buy a liner/piston set for ringed FSR engine or a used engine ringed 45 FSR in good condition to example in EEEBBAAYYY.

Skip, why not just run the engine the way it is now and not worry trying to find a ringed piston? Its a GOOD engine as it sits .
