Default Engine mounting

We are putting a Sept. Fury arf together, we want to install a Saito 150. The problem is the carburator, it can't be behind the engine. We are mounting the engine on it's side and the carburator won't clear. If we raise the carb up and let it be above the engine we have clearance. My question, will the carb draw fuel ok. Thanks Bob

As long as you can get the fuel tank situated to be centered on the carb or slightly below the carb, you are OK.
if the carb is higher than the fuel tank, the engine might tend to want to lean out more as the fuel tank gets low.
But usually if the fuel tank isn't too low, you can richen it up more and it works.

The carb will be roughly 1.5 inches higher than the tank

To what use will the model be put to?

If its just scale flying straight and level with a few banks here and there, then place the carby above the tank and to hell with the inflight differences.
It will draw OK and doubly so if you pressurise the tank from the exhaust.

If the model is meant for something more then investigate the use of a header tank that is consistent with the carby's placement and fed from by a Saito fuel pump.

Good luck.

Hi!
Why not fix the firewall so the engine will fit?

If you are putting an ESM (used to be called KMP) September Fury together, I have a suggestion. Just mount the engine upright. The intake bumps on the cowl will just barely fit over Saito 1.80 valve covers. Therefore, I am certain the slightly smaller 1.50 will fit that way.

If you are using someone else's Sept. Fury, never mind what I wrote! [&:]

Hi!
well! Remove a part of the firewall so that the engine fits!
