The OS 52 Four Stroke carb or the carb from a Magnum 52 will bolt right on the 48 like it was made for it.

is there a benefit in swapping the carbs, the engine did seem a little finicky with the stock carb compared to my saito .91 I had and my dads ASP .61, both of those engines always ran perfect with only minor tuning changes for weather, I'd like to set the OS up for another plane I have since I not only wrecked the suhkoi which had the OS on it, but a week earlier my big cub with my saito twin when in, then a week later my dads plane pulled the front wing dowl out in flight, luckily two of the planes are fixable, the suhkoi is done though, also looking for a new home for my saito 1.30 twin as its just two heavy for that cub

My OS 48 had a OS 52 carb when I traded for it. It ran fine. I never had a 48 with an original carb. I've seen them with the Magnum 52FS carb too.

I think I'll go with the magnum crab, its about half the price and its the same carb as my dads ASP .61 it looks like which I'm familiar with and has always ran great

I think you will find that it is pretty much like the original carb.

I've had several Magnum Four strokes and the carbs seem to work fine.

Tell Hobby People that you have a Magnum 52. They will refuse to sell you a carb to go onto a OS 48 and insist that theirs will not fit a OS 48.

Tower's site is a disaster if you don't have OS part numbers. [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVPROFIL=&FVSEARCH=45181973&search=Go]This is the needle for the FS-48.[/link]

[link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCR27&P=Z]The needle from the FS-30, and 40 also fits the FS-48 carb.[/link] This needle has a finer taper so it will give you a few clicks more range of adjustment on the needle.

I have a NIP carb for the FS-48 if you prefer to go that route.

Tower's site is a disaster if you don't have OS part numbers.
Iusually go to the OSsite first to get part numbers and then to Tower.

Part list for the FS-48:
http://osengines.com/parts/xr35800.html

Usually the needle isn't listed with the engine. Instead, you need to get the carb number and look there. Here's a page showing carbs:
http://osengines.com/parts/discontinued.html

And the listing of parts for the FS-48 carb:

The only part they have is the needle valve itself

if the needle is only 7 bucks I may as well just fix that, I have a list to order from tower in the coming weeks so I'll just go that route, the plane the engine is going on now is an old trainer that I'm converting to tail dragger for a good beater/bush flying plane, my cub is also getting real flaps in its rebuild as I use that for r/c bush flying as well
