Meteor Carb
This carb came with a pre-owned Irvine 61. It has METEOR embossed on the front face. Quality seems good.
I understand from a quick internet search that a range of engines made in England in the 70's and 80's were branded "METEOR".
Can anyone state advise which Meteor engine this carb may originate from? It seems to be suited to a 40 size engine.
It is a standard twin needle arrangement, though the casting indicates it was designed to house an air bleed screew. One unusual feature is that there is no ratchet spring for the HS needle. Friction is provided solely by an "O" ring on the needle holder.

RE: Meteor Carb
It looks just like a 40 sized one I have. What is the diameter of the spigot that goes into the engine? The Meteor 40 will be .470" while the 60 is .500". The 60 versions I have have the word "METEOR" engraved as opposed to embossed.

RE: Meteor Carb
Thanks Martin
The spigot diameter of this carb is .472 " (12.00mm). Rotor bore diameter is .340 " (8.6 mm).
The spigot on example shown above has been sleeved up to .60 " (15mm) diameter to suit the Irvine 61 RLS it came off. The Irvine .61 is now wearing an original Irvine JetStream carb.
Are these good carbs?

RE: Meteor Carb
I don't know. I haven't got a 40 engine, but the 60's are adequate. It is 1970s technology but the little running I've done on the test stand with the 60 has been OK.
