The Saito 120 was made for many years and there are several evolutionary models. Which Saito 120 do you have?

6300 rpm with a 15 X 8 sounds low in rpm for either model 120.

Hi!
You should get around 8500rpm with a 16x6 prop apprx the same with a 15x8.

Agree with all the above replys. I get about 8500 on 16x8. But I also dont tune for max rpm either.

You ought to down load the Saito Notes thread located at the top of this topic.  You might find some good info on your engine.  Sounds like your engine is not up to par.  Check valve clearances first.  If they are okay well you probably have a bad ring or worse problems.  If you go into the engine I would replace the bearings while you are in there.

Good luck,

Chip

Chip, I would check valve lash and then do a top to bottom tune up before anything else.
