Is your pump flow rate and pressure far above the carb requirements? will you have to run a T-piece back to your tank? Checked your engine manufacturer instructions?

I don't know which version of the surpass you have but the pumped S'2 has some VERY small markings next to the nipples.
The one marked "R" on the pump back plate is return to tank, the one marked "IN" is fuel in obviously. The nipple pointing kinda vertical on the center section on the pump goes to the carb. Get a magnifying glass out and take a look.
BTW, I've tried all the "T" line voodoo and never had any better response.
