RE: New OS 46 AX II to come
Regardless of the shape of the head if bore, stroke, liner/piston the same, and headbolt spacing the same the regular Davis Diesel AX 46 head should fit ti martin
makes an great conversion have the earlier one with his head
I dumped the rear needle setup and use a front carb

You know, I love model Diesel engines - a lot, but I don't feel the need to convert each and every engine that I see to burning that obnoxious mixture of chemicals that we call model Diesel fuel!!!
I'll bet that all of your Briggs & Strattons, John Deere & Tecumseh engines have model Diesel conversion heads too! What say ye? (smile)

I run a bone stock OS 46 AX and have flown 22 gallons of fuel through it on a Kaos 40 ARF. I've run an APC 11x6 for the most of it's life, but an APC 12.25x3.75 for a summer too. Runs like a top.
I used every old gallon of stunt fuel I had, 5, 10 and 15% nitro, added a little castor and an oz of Aero Lube from Randy Smith for every old gallon, and every new gallon of Powermaster fuel to bring the oil to at least 20%.
Now my son flies it and it isn't run as much but the bearings haven't ever been replaced and the engine runs and idles just great.

+1 on 20% oil, I've run Sig Champion in every model engine I own, never peeled a liner and I've never had to replace any bearings in any new engine that I've put in service, I've replaced a couple sets in some used engines I've bought.

You could mail me offline with your email address, and I could help you with a Jap copy of the engine manual.
The upload does not want to work since yesterday.

I have had to change the bearings in everyone I bought I have the new os 46 axII and had to do the bearings less than a gallon of fuel and also I had it come threw with no head gasket and ran hot a took the nickle plating off the sleeve they wanted to do nothing to fix it and wanted 70.00plus for a new piston and sleeve, not going to happen I ordered a asp46 piston and sleeve for 17.00 and installed it and running great just had to cut a new groove to align the exhaust ports no more os for me

All of this just to add to a nearly decade old thread.

Those manufacturer specs are bogus is what I was trying to convey. The AX II wont make 1.63hp at 16k as it comes from the box. The AX and AX II are pretty damn similar in power. The 1.23hp at 13,500 is not too far off - a 10x6 APC at 13,500rpm requires 1.06hp.

I've managed to get hold of the original 46 ax manufacture spec and would you believe it, it's actually Identical to the 46 axii in terms of output, so they are both the same, as Hennie and 1QwkSport2,5r have already stated.I was actually spouting BS, my apologies.

Just a quick question regarding the OS 46 AXII, I have 4 brand new in my possession and I notice they do not include an exhaust manifold gasket?, I have read elsewhere that spent oil spews out of the seam and eventually makes the engine unsightly. Now I read somewhere that a thin sliver of silicone glue on the two faces can stop oil leaking from the joints/seams, well I have 2 Force 46 and 2 Force 52 engines and both use gaskets.I find it very odd that a brand like OS doesn't use or supply exhaust gaskets? when every other engine manufacture does.

Many manufacturers supply a paper gasket. The problem with using them is they compress. With the expansion and contraction of the metals on either side of the gasket, the screws eventually come loose and it leaks anyway. If you’re going to use a gasket, you want to use thin soft metal like copper or brass. But better yet, RTV silicone is the best bet if you don’t want to cut a metal gasket. Dub Jett supplies his engines with a brass gasket. I’ve had those leak, so I use silicone on everything.
