Default Enya 40-4C open rocker compression

I have a used open rocker Enya 40 four stroke engine. Overall, the engine is in great condition, but the compression is unusually low when flipped over. I am wondering whether there is something wrong with the engine, or that Enya 40 open rocker engines had low compression even when brand new?

Ringed engines sometimes feel this way. I have a Laser .90 that feels totally knackered, if it hasn't run for a while.

Try running it. The fresh fuel will loosen any gumminess on the ring.

It'll probably run just fine.

Thank you for the suggestion, bobbeagle. I will run it soon and will find out whether things are good or not.
