If you are going to run glow fuel, when you set your initial spark timing advance, set it @ 34* BTDC.
The 28* recommended advance setting is for gasoline. The slow burn rate of methanol will require a more aggressive spark advance to get optimum power.
I have set up C&H CDI for use W/glow fuel on Saito FA91S, FA150, FA180, FA180HC & FA300TTDP engines. All of them picked up power when the timing was advanced beyond the 28* setting.
