Default CH Ignitions is back

This is a CH Ignition I got for my 1.50 Saito Four cycle engine. It came very well packed and is a very high quality looking CD Ignition. As you can see it came with a bolt-on sensor pick up & very good instructions. Also a timing ring that slips on prop hub, with a set screw. That makes timing very easy to adjust. I cannot wait to run my Saito with this Ignition system. I would do it today, but I am not too use my left arm...I had a P. Maker exchange this AM. I am glad that went well. As soon as I run this engine, I will have video also. The website and phone number is right on the ignition case in photos below. Please keep this thread with input for Ch Ignitions only. Thanks Very Much Capt,n

If you are going to run glow fuel, when you set your initial spark timing advance, set it @ 34* BTDC.

The 28* recommended advance setting is for gasoline. The slow burn rate of methanol will require a more aggressive spark advance to get optimum power.

I have set up C&H CDI for use W/glow fuel on Saito FA91S, FA150, FA180, FA180HC & FA300TTDP engines. All of them picked up power when the timing was advanced beyond the 28* setting.

If you would like to see an illustrated step-by-step thread on setting up the ignition timing you can go [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1774802#post23330426]HERE.[/link]

If the timing is from the prop hub, then won't it also fire at the end of the exhaust stroke?  I suppose it would work but needs to be before the intake valve opens.

Yes the plug will fire on every revolution of the crankshaft, so every other rev there is a extra spark. But that may be a bonus to help keep spark plug clean and ignite any unburbed fuel on exhaust stroke. Best Regards, Capt,n

This is a common phenomenon know as "waste spark" & almost all single cylider engines use this system.

The waste spark will occur @ the same 34* BTDC on the exhaust stroke so it has no affect.

Harley davidson "V" twins even employ waste spark systems.
