Can't remove cylinder liner!!! O.S. .32
I just bought a used Kyosho Caliber 30, and tore it down to check on everything before I fly it. It has an O.S. .32 heli engine in it, which was locked up. After spraying some PB Blaster in it, it loosened up and turns nice and smooth now, but I still want to disassemble it to check the bearings, ect. My problem is, I can absolutely not get the cylinder liner to come loose. I've tried the old zip tie in the exhaust trick, didn't work, tried stuffing a bunch of toothpicks in it while cranking it (cuz the zip ties just sheared), didn't work either. Tried a heating and cooling cycle to loosen it up, didn't work. Now what do I try????

Put a nut on the crankshaft. Heat engine in oven at 250 for about 20 minutes. While still hot, use leather gloves to hold it, turn crank till piston is just below top of exhaust port, place a copper washer from a glow plug on top of piston and hang out exhaust port just thickness of cylinder sleave, turn nut on crank with wrench to push sleave up with piston top and copper washer.
I have never had this fail.
Good luck.

I just noticed it is not a threaded crank so you will have to use the same method with a different way to turn crank like a allen key through hole or something else.

Thanks. While I was offline, I decided to try heating it again, used a torch to heat the case, and then I was able to get it loose. My new problem is unscrewing the clutch bell (or whatever it's called) from the crankshaft. I'm sure it's put on with thread locker. Got any tip's for that?

Heat agai, with the rod still attached to the piston you can put a piece of wood under the crank in the rear of the casing to stop the shaft from turning.

Using the foreign object in the exhaust port will only work if it is an ABN engine. If you try this on an engine with a ring chances are you will pinch the ring in the groove with this kind of pressure and damage the piston
