saito 100 on tower trainer 60?
O.k. here it goes.... looking for an opinion or two on putting a saito 100 on a tower hobbies 60 size trainer. This plane has been sitting stripped down for some time. loooking to break in engine on this plane so it is ready to install over winter on my h-9 p-51 60 size plane. Also how long would a 10.5 oz fuel tank last in this plane with this engine? and lastly what size prop for this combo? I am curently building large gaser planes and have never used a four stroke yet. This saito 100 has been sitting around waiting for that p-51. My tower trainer is a big 70" span plane and previously had an o.s. 60fp on it. Flew great... only that engine is now on my goldberg super chipmunk. I have been wanting an easy flying plane as all my others are pretty snappy.... I thought this would be the perfect way to run in this new engine for my future plane, have a nice easy flying kick around plane... again help is much apreciated!!!!!!

It would be a bit much but would work, you would need like a 13x8 three blade to have ground clearance and a couple of extra rubber bands. I flew mine a lot with an Irvine Q72 which ran much like a .91. and a Fox Eagle .74 also, so why not. Flying at part throttle should give decent flight times if the low end is set correctly. The Tower Trainer is a great flying plane.

Thanks hobbsy for the quick reply! I figured it should be o.k. throttle management being the key of course.... what are your thoughts on the fuel tank? how long would a 10.5 oz. tank keep me up there with this engine/plane combo? I ask because the stock tank went into my chipmunk along with the old motor. Tower only has a 10.5 oz tank that fits their 40 size trainers.... I can of course just get a new 14oz. and swap with the chipmunk. worst case senario. Also what size 2 blade prop would work with this plane/combo? Thanks again!!! Dave23
