Default Varnish Remover

Does anyone know of a good varnish cleaner that will remove the baked on varnish which collects on the glow engine cylider heads?

Thanx, Mark

Dawn Power Dissolver, get it in the dishwashing detergents section of your local store. Don't leave it on too long.

Dawn Power Dissolver. 5 minutes and scrub with a toothbrush. It is a bit hard to find, some Walmarts have it, but it is easier to order it online. Maybe some BBQ cleaners may be similar. The slow cooker and antifreeze method will work too with a little more trouble/money.edit Hey Jeffie you type faster than me.

I've used Dawn Power Dissolver on Enyas, Super Tigres, K&B's, and a Fox. Let it set for over 15 minutes and scrubbed the crud off, and it didn't turn he aluminum black like the antifreeze method can. Not to say DPD won't, but it hasn't happened to me yet. +1 for DPD.

Yes Dawn Power Dissolver works quite well.
Now there are quite a few adherants to the crock pot antifreeze method too, but this method usually needs to run overnight for best effect.

I'm a crockpot/antifreeze guy. Usually a really grimy engine gets overnight cooking. The only drawback is cooking too long. I forgot about a muffler that was cooking for about 3 days. The aluminum turns a dark grey. Just cosmetic, doesnt affect the metal. Now I have an appliance timer on it that turns it off after 24 hours.

Imo, the crockpot method is the best way to clean engine parts.

The crockpot is ok, but the motor must be disassembled and plastic parts removed. I just got a box full of dirty motors today, DPD is ready. Some of them may not be worth the soak, but I will get some pics before and after if I remember when I find some time. I think I will clean them first before I even rip them apart.

OK, I tried the Dawn Power Dissolver that you guys recommended and it worked quite well, right out of the bottle. Let it sit for about 15 min and scrubbed off the varnish with an old tooth brush. Thanx for the help........

I felt like being a photographer today after I cleaned a few of the dirtier motors. I used the D Power Dissolver. The are still worn out and missing needle valves etc, but look nicer. I used a bit of Scotchbrite after the wire toothbrush on the corroded parts.
