Default "New" Thunder Tiger Pro .46

Anyone seen or heard anything about the new Pro .46 engine design?

I am hoping the quality isn't going to suffer. Looking at the pictures it looks like they now have a 4 bolt head instead of 6. The design looks alot like the OS AX engines. Just curious if there was any information, good or bad, about it. Wonder if the plan is to change the design of their other engines as well.

The picture shows a cheap plastic backplate. What a shame. Everything gets cheapened as time goes by.

I hope they haven't cheapened it but at a glance, it seems so. I have 2 of the "older" pro .46 and they are superb engines. One is over 12 years old and runs great with lots of power on 10% Morgan Omega.

A plastic backplate is ok if it is made from a good material. It is lighter and if the rod rubs on it it will not scuff it. I sure hate those LA ones with the needle valve on though. I machined up a couple of aluminum ones to replace the old ones.
